MAGNIFIERS

Magnifiers basically make small objects look bigger. This is not just useful for doing small craft or hobby work if your vision is normal, but a necessity if you have low vision.

Through certain eye diseases - such as cataract, macula degeneration - your vision may not be correctable to allow you to see nomally... you would then have what is termed low vision. This affects your eyes performance to varying degrees. Standard reading spectacles can sometimes no longer be sufficient to help. Magnifiying lenses are then required. These are available in simple hand held versions or more specialised versions such as the torch magnifier with their own light source as pictured here.

Torch Magnifier

As one's vision may deteriorate further stronger magnifiers can be required and the torch magnifiers can be updated by changing the magnifying head. With further deterioration more specialised telescopic aids are required.

When there is further progression of eye disease with resulting poorer vision, electronic or computer aids are required.

We have these devics available and the expertise to advise you on which options are most suitable for you. Please call for an appointment to assess your needs.

For specialist occupations, hobbies or low vision needs - various magnifiers are available such as jewellers loupes and geologists loupes (Click here for picture).
